Listen to the progress of the heat pump

Since the arrival of the heat pump in the Industrial Refrigeration and Heat Pump Laboratory at Danish Technological Institute earlier in the spring, we have optimized the system and conducted several test runs, gradually achieving higher and higher temperatures.

Update on the Interheat heat pump

Right now, a loud humming from the Interheat heat pump are filling the lab.

It signifies the significant strides that have been made in testing the Interheat heat pump for integration at process level in a protein dryer.

Approaching 170°C target

The project goal is to reach a temperature of approximately 170°C – and so far, it has reached an impressive 150°C. The heat pump must be capable of delivering air heated to 150°C. Since this is done via a heat exchanger, it needs to reach slightly higher temperatures (170°C) on the refrigerant side to ensure efficient heat transfer and compensate for any temperature losses that may occur during the exchange process.

In the following months, efforts will continue to push the boundaries and fine-tune the system, chasing those final degrees.
